| Orton engineering pvt. Ltd. Manufactures stall torque motor operated cable reeling drums. As is evident from the product-name, these cable reeling drums, are driven by squirrel cage stall torque motor. The motor provides the necessary torque for the rotation of the cable reeling drum. The stall torque motor is basically a brake motor, capable of producing high torque, even in locked condition of the rotor, without getting overheated. When a stall torque motor operated cable reeling drum is rotating in the payout direction, the rotor is moved against its natural direction of rotation, without being electrically reversed. In case of these types of cable reeling drums, the stall torque motor remains energized, in both winding and unwinding operations. Even when the machine is not moving, the stall torque motor remains in energised condition. In case, one desires to save on power during long stoppages of the machine, he then can install a contactor and timer circuit in the panel. Since the stall torque motors are continuously rated, there is absolutely no problem, even if the motor remains continuously on, during both winding and unwinding operations. There is no separate contactor, required for the reversal of the stall torque motor, because during the payout operation, the rotor is moved against its natural direction due to the pulling action of the cable as the machine moves. Though the power supply to the motor is maintained, there is no electrical reversal of the motor.
