Typical application areas are turbine blade milling and various aerospace-milling applications. The r220.48 double octomill family represents the most reliable range of cutters giving the bestcost economy. The r220.48 standard cutters are available in 7 and 9 mm insert sizes in close and extra close pitch designs, from diameter 80 to 200 mm. The onmf inserts fitting into r220.48 cutters are available in grades, 150m [for cast iron] and 250m [for steel]. New cutter in the octomill family: the newly developed cutter type 220.42 with fixed pockets in the diameter range 40-100 mm in normal and closed pitch versions, is a complement to the existing octomill cutters. The new 220.42 cutters have less positive cutting rake and less positive insert clearance compared to octomill. This makes 220.42 an excellent roughing cutter in tough applications demanding good ramping possibilities. |
