| Phoenix contact [india] pvt ltd. Offers ferrules xl for short circuit resistant cables, which are designed for cables with particularly thick special insulations and are equipped with a large insulating collarthat gives greater operational safety as well as cost savings. Fast assembly is permitted by the funnel effect of the insulating collar. The conductor is saved from crimping by the support of the conductor insulation in the insulating collar. It also prevents cable breaks and vibration damage. According to din 46228-4 the plastic collar is twice the size of a ferrule. The collars are colour-coded for the respective conductor cross-section according to din. The colour-coded collars can be provided in various lengths for conductor cross-sections of 1.5 mm2 to 16 mm2 and can be processed with any commercially available crimping tool. Specially thick and insulated cables are used extensively in the wiring of switch cabinets. These special cables are used when equipments, eg, sockets, still remain live in system components after the main switch has been turned off.
