| Tools & appliances offers a new low weight high-speed automatic reversible tapping attachment. It is useful with standard hss taps on any drilling machine vertically or horizontally, for right or left hand tapping of blind or through holes. This tapping attachment is made of alloy steels with all moving parts hardened and ground to precision. This comes in capacities having range from 2 to 30 mm. When tap is bottomed in a blind hole or core hole is shallow or tap is dull, an ultrasensitive and smooth operating ball-clutch protects the tap against breakage. Ball-drive forward and reverse is provided to the holding spindle of the attachment to get significant reduction in friction during tapping operation. A planetary gear-reversing mechanism transmits smooth positive reverse to the tap retraction, so there is no possibility of slippage and the retraction is 75% faster than the machine spindle. Smooth tapping and better thread profile are assured by axial float. Accurate depth control is by its accurate neutral mechanism. Cushioned drive eliminates the possibility of cross threadings during roughing and finishing taps. It is possible to enter the same tapped holes as many times as required and still maintain a gauge perfect thread. [stall 10, hall 7 fgh, imtex-98.]
