Carborundum universal ltd, a flagship company of marugappa group offers a wide range of electro minerals. As part of these products, the company offers fused mullite. A mixture of high purity bayer alumina and pure quartz are fused in a tilting type arc furnace at a temperature around 2000 deg c to produce fused mullite. Then the mass are cooled, crushed, cleaned of magnetic impurities and classified into desired size fractions. Fused mullite is widely used in refractory industry for those applications where thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance are required.
