This is basically an online Rotameter either glass tube or metal tube placed in a By-Pass piping. The only difference is the range orifice of the Rotameter at the inlet. This range orifice is designed in such a way that the differential pressure through the By-Pass piping is equivalent to the differential pressure across the mainline orifice. With this arrangement, Rotameter in the By-Pass piping works as a Manometer.
