| Windston springs offers a wide range of disc springs which are elastic mechanical elements. These springs are able to move with the bolted joint if they are used therein and can compensate for developed looseness. The reactive power of these disc spring are applicable in keeping the bolt joint tight under all conditions. These springs can be applied for piping joints, valve and pump connections, and others in the petrochemical field. Flange leakage can be formed from abnormal high load produced by thermal expansion and contraction of a bolted joint generally flanges are under static load conditions. However, in large piping systems, there may also be mechanical shock from compressor related piping. Thermal and mechanical shock differential can cause variation and yielding in bolt loads. These disc springs under the nut or bolt head can give protection to flange joints against these under unexpected temperature variations and mechanical shock loads in the field than the pre-stressing or torquing the bolt at factory installation. Disc springs by absorbing peak stresses prevent damage to the bolt, gasket and joint.
