Francis klein & co has introduced new generation stepper motor and stand- alone control module, manufactured by slo-syn, a division of warner electric sa of switzerland. Slo-syn represents the kml series of stepper motors. It has holding torque between 1.2 and 8.2 nm as compared to old mo 60 and mo 90 standard motors with 0.53 to 3.9 nm . There are 4 lengths available for size 23, and 3 for size 34. They are usable in full step, half step and micro stepping operation. They have typical step accuracy of 12 %, and their maximum speed is 6,000 min-1. These motors can endure twice the rated current without demagnetisation, thus enabling an instant torque peak equal to 200% of the rated torque. In most of the cases, a smaller motor is usable to provide the same output that allows cost reduction of up to 25 %. The ss 2000 d61 stand-alone module is for precise positioning. This module has an integral 6a/180 v drive capable of operating with ratings of 12,800 steps per revolution. It consists of 1 axis control card connected to two rs- 232 or rs-485 serial ports, and controls 8 inputs and 4 outputs with opto coupling. It is encoded using a language developed from basic.
